Frustration at its Finest

Honestly, I have been frustrated with this awning for the past several weeks. I have already shared about it in an earlier post. I like it, but I am struggling with one aspect of it.

There are zippers that line the edge of the awning to allow walls to be zipped in to make somewhat of a large tent-like structure. The problem is that the company hasn’t released the walls yet. They are still in production, so I planned to make walls for us.

We have sewn bags for gear and cushion covers for the bedding; why couldn’t we sew awning walls? Someone blessed me with enough material to make them, but I am struggling to identify what size the zippers are and where to buy thirteen-foot-long zippers. I have been on the phone twice with the manufacturer, but I wasn’t convinced by their reply to what the zipper size is. “I’m pretty sure it is a SBS #3.”

I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about zippers as I have researched over the past few weeks. From how to measure a zipper, which includes measuring it zipped up…oh how I wish I had the other part of the zipper, to how to identify the different types of zippers. Unfortunately for me, the things I haven’t learned are “exactly” what size zipper I need and where to buy said zipper. This has led to everything but a phone call to the zipper manufacturer in China.

Why do I tell you all this? I just walked into the office from our final Upward Soccer game of the season. I was blessed to watch children running, playing, and encouraging one another. I watched coaches focus more on the growth of the children than the score on the scoreboard. I watched some of PFBC’s finest talking to the spectators. I watched tons of children almost fill the playground at church. I watched parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and friends talk, laugh, and enjoy time together. I prayed for a family who lost a high school-age son after the prayer request was shared with me.

When I sat back down at my desk, it hit me: How can I be blessed to recognize God and what He is doing and still fret over a zipper on an awning?

Isaiah 26:3 NIV84
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

I know that many of you reading this have much larger woes than a zipper on an awning, but I encourage you to keep your mind steadfast on the Lord. He offers True Peace!
